Breezy conditions at the Club de Golf do Santo de Serra - a venue with a reputation for blustery weather - meant the two-tee start in the first round, scheduled to begin at 7.50am, was put back until things improved.
Ricardo Santos, pictured here wearing a blue golf sweater , will be hoping to hit the ground running when play eventually gets underway. The 32-year-old Portuguese player won his maiden European Tour title in Madeira three years ago, finishing four shots ahead of Sweden's Magnus Carlsson to lift the trophy, so he certainly knows the course inside out.
But his form is not good heading into the tournament. He is yet to finish higher than 32nd in his first five tournaments this year, while he only managed one top 10 finish during the whole of last season.
