The cream of European and US golfers will pull on their Ryder Cup golf clothing and fight for supremacy at Gleneagles from September 23, but 38-year-old Woods won't be among them.

He will not be taking part in any golf tournaments until December at the earliest as he continues to battle a stubborn back injury.

Talking to Sky Sports News, Woods said he isn't physically capable of playing and that is why he has had to tell US team captain Tom Watson that he is unavailable for selection.

Woods says Ryder Cup team members have to win points and he is in no condition to get one but it is his intention to get fit and be stronger in 2015.

Woods, who has 14 major titles under his belt, is restricting his recovery work to the gym and doesn't intend to handle a golf club for at least a month.

According to Woods his golfing diary is clear until his own World Challenge tournament in Orlando in December.
