The three minute film allows viewers to witness the expertise of Glenmuir’s traditional craftsmen in Scotland creating the true luxury of a Glenmuir golf sweater. Since Glenmuir’s beginnings in 1891, when the very first piece of knitwear came off their looms, Glenmuir has committed itself to creating golf clothing with impeccable care, skill and dedication to the craft.

The film shows the process of a Glenmuir sweater being created from the initial stages of knitting right through to the application of bespoke embroidery. Despite these products being made in Scotland, Glenmuir are able to remain competitively priced and maintain supreme standards of quality due to the organization being vertically integrated. The company’s owners have a factory in Hawick in the Scottish Borders, internationally regarded as the home of knitwear, which produce Glenmuir’s 100% Lambswool and Cashmere sweaters whilst design, purchasing, quality control, embroidery, administration and marketing all take place at Glenmuir’s Lanark headquarters.

Colin Mackay, Glenmuir’s Commercial Director, explains: “There is a great cachet associated with knitwear made in Scotland and the provenance of all of our Glenmuir products is something we take very seriously. The craftsmen and craftswomen take great care in creating our knitwear at the Hawick factory to ensure Glenmuir sweaters are produced to the highest standards of quality, durability, reliability and importantly with great integrity.

“This attention to detail from the water we use in the washing process, coming from the burn which flows through the Hawick factory, to the touch and feel of generations of our craftsmen is unique within the golf industry and is captured in this film to give everyone a chance to witness the making of a Glenmuir sweater.”

Glenmuir’s Managing Director, Mikhel Ruia, added: “Our team are very proud of crafting the finest golfwear for over 120 years. There is something truly unique about a Glenmuir sweater, and we are delighted to be able to share this process through our film which showcases the beautiful combination of passion, craftsmanship and care which goes into making a Glenmuir sweater”.
