The world’s most loyal golfer, a socially distant golf cart and a very prickly beard, they’re all here…

The longest ‘usable’ golf club
Michael Furrh and Mike Rausch swung a 15.57 metre-long (51 ft) club into the record books earlier this year. The duo hit a ball over 45 metres using the oversized club in Texas, USA. The hotly contested world record has been broken 14 times over the years with Michael Furrh holding the record five times.

The fastest half-marathon carrying golf clubs
We often associate golf with gentle exercise but not Robert Winckler. The Canadian completed the Waterfront Marathon in Toronto carrying a full bag of clubs in 1 hour 57 min and 58 seconds. The serial record breaker has also run the fastest half-marathon dressed as a cowboy.

The world’s longest golf cart
Ever wished your golf cart was four times as long? Neither have we. That didn’t stop Mike’s Golf Carts in Georgia, USA from building a 9.62 metre-long (31 ft) cart back in 2013. The stretch buggy would be perfect for a socially distant ride around the course with friends today.

The most golf tees in a beard
You read that correctly! Joel Strasser of Washington USA managed to weave a whopping 607 tees into his beard in November last year. The American’s impressive mane also holds the record for the most toothpicks in a beard. He managed to weave 3,500 wooden picks into his facial hair in just over three hours.

The longest-serving golf club member
Willie Cuthbert has belonged to the Kirkintilloch Golf Club near Glasgow for a staggering 89 years and 198 days (as of 23 December 2016). The record holder joined the club at 12 years of age when his father treated him to membership as a reward for passing his school exams. He even worked making clubs during the 1930s.

The longest golf putt
Australian YouTuber Brett Stanford holds the record for the longest putt outside of a tournament. His successful shot travelled 120.6 metres (395 ft) before it sank on the 5th hole at the Point Walter Golf Course in 2017. Footage of the precise putt can be found on his ‘How Ridiculous’ YouTube channel.

And a few more of our favourites…

Don Athey of Ohio, USA, stacked and balanced nine golf balls vertically to record the largest stack of golf balls.

Robert Lantsoght of Malaga, Spain, has the largest collection of golf clubs in the world: he’s amassed 4,393 clubs in just 10 years.

The fastest golf drive clocked up speeds of 217 mph and was struck by Ryan Winther in Florida, USA.
