Who doesn’t love a round of crazy golf? It’s the perfect afternoon’s activity for people of all ages and is a great addition to any holiday itinerary whatever the weather.

If you’re looking for a fun activity with family or friends this summer but still want to practice your putting, check out one of these innovative crazy golf courses.

Junkyard Golf – Manchester
Forget everything you thought you knew about crazy golf at Junkyard Golf in Manchester. With great cocktails, bad puns, and some eclectic holes this is the perfect place to come with friends for an after-work chill out.

There are three nine-hole courses, each with weird names and weirder obstacles. But that’s the beauty of Junkyard Golf — it’s an experience in itself. And if you can’t make it to Manchester there are also courses in Oxford and London.

Pirate’s Bay – Paignton, Devon
If you’re heading to the English Riviera this summer then make sure you check out Pirate’s Bay, probably the UK’s most visually stunning crazy golf course.

This 18-hole course is located right next to the beach and has a pirate-themed setting, with ships and turquoise water features. These extra touches make it the perfect family activity and a top addition to any day at the seaside.

Swingers – London
This is the crazy golf course built for your inner young professional. Located underneath the famous Gherkin building in the City, Swingers is one of the capital’s fanciest golf spots. Two 9-hole courses take in lighthouses and windmills in this immaculate underground bunker.

It gets busy, so if you don’t book in advance you might find yourself waiting for a tee-time at the bar. But with its excellent array of cocktails, we can think of worse places to while away an evening. There’s also a course in the West End, just off Oxford Street.

Treetops Adventure Golf – Cardiff
A stone’s throw from Cardiff Castle, this course is set in a tropical rainforest right in the heart of the Welsh capital. The venue has two 18-hole courses so you can choose between the Ancient Explorer trail or the Tropical trail – or both.

The course caters for the needs of families with extra activities like face painting and craft workshops for the kids, but when the sun goes down it opens till late to become one of Cardiff’s hidden hotspots.

The Lost City – Nottingham
With two 18-hole courses and a vibe that’s more Raiders of the Lost Ark than pitch and putt, The Lost City is one of the East Midlands’ best destinations for any indoor golfers. Choose from the Sacred Skull course or the Temple Trail course and channel your inner Indiana Jones.

The accompanying bar also offers cocktail masterclasses, meaning it’s a great place to go with friends for an evening out. For any adventurers in Northern Ireland, there’s also a Lost City in Belfast.
