The perfect fit for golf clothing – the tall and the short of it

Don’t let an uncomfortable outfit distract you from your game.

There’s no such thing as looking like the ‘perfect golfer’, but there is the perfect golf clothing fit for you.

We’re here to help you find it…

Find the right size with ease
Uncomfortable clothing is hard to deal with at the best of times, let alone when you’re trying to land elusive birdies. It might sound obvious, but if you’re spending hours on the golf course – make sure you invest in something that fits, and fits well.

At Glenmuir, we use clever garment technology like stretch seams, specialist pattern cutting and the latest fabrics, all designed to move with your body while giving a flattering drape. This will ensure you can tee off with no restriction, while feeling your absolute best.

If you aren’t an ‘average’ height, not to worry, we’ve got you covered. Our clothing is designed with taller golfers in mind, with sleeves carefully fitted to ensure the right look and feel.

Our garments are all UK standard sizing, with our polo shirts, knitwear and outerwear ranging from XXS to XXXL for men and from XXS to XXL for women. Our trousers and shorts range from 32(in) to 42(in) for men and from 8 to 18 for women, with three different trouser leg lengths available for each.

If you’re still unsure what’s right for you, note that our shirts are generally slightly more generous in sizing compared with our sweaters and outerwear. And if you’re more accustomed to US sizing or prefer a more classic fit, we advise you to size up. For those more used to a European Slim Fit, or prefer a fitted look, then sizing down’s your best bet – but remember, make sure you’re comfortable on the course.

Practical perks to make your day
With the golf course acting as a second home for some, it’s important to have everything you need. And clothes can help to make that possible. Special compartments and space to carry useful items around can really make the difference to your day. Luckily, our products are designed by golfers for golfers, which means all practicalities have been thought about.

There’s plenty of pockets for balls and tees, while zips are in the correct places so they don’t get in the way of your swing. Even our stylish Lurex Tipped Performance Pique Golf Dress with Undershorts has invisible pockets for your convenience.

To ensure you don’t put yourself or others off on the course, our soft fabrics also make minimal noise. There’s nothing worse than a squeaky outfit on the green.

Fabrics that feel good
What could be more important than the material your golfing war paint is made from? It might fit like a glove, but if it’s made from itchy material you won’t be able to putt in peace.

All our fabrics are pre-shrunk before being measured and put together by our craftspeople. This care in the design process means you shouldn’t see any shrinkage in any of our products – as long as you follow the care label.

Plus, we have options suitable for both summer and winter. Our Men’s Chest Stripe Performance Golf Polo Shirt, for example, moves moisture from the body, using its inherent thermoregulation abilities to keep you cool and dry as you navigate your way through your game.

What about shoes?
There’s no point finding a comfortable golf outfit without thinking about your footwear. First, consider spikes. Will you value the extra grip on the course or prefer an option that gives you access to the 19th hole too? Do you enjoy playing rounds in the summer, or thrive mostly at winter? If you’re one for the warmer weather opt for a breathable, mesh fabric, rather than a traditional leather shoe.

Or if you regularly play in the rain (bravo for commitment), you could go for a waterproof but breathable Gore-Tex option. Finally, think of the fit. You’ll need some leeway for your toes to pivot as you tee off, so should try a few practice swings before you buy.

To complete your look
Nothing says you’ve found the perfect fit quite like the finishing touches. Once you’ve picked an outfit to suit your size, with swing-ready stretch seams and other smart design features you might want to consider personalising your new purchases.

A selection of our men’s and women’s shirts, sweaters and midlayers, can be embroidered with initials and significant dates for a truly bespoke finish. You could even combine text with an image and choose from a range of national flags or sport symbols to truly put your stamp on the latest addition to your golfing wardrobe.

Luckily, finding the perfect fit with Glenmuir doesn’t mean you have to squander your fashion sense, only enhance it. All our superior golf clothing collections incorporate classic and contemporary golf fashionwear, made with the latest seasonal colour trends.
