HOW DO OUR GOLF CLOTHES FIT?

Our sizing is UK standard sizing. If you are used to US sizing, or prefer a more classic fit or on the cusp of a size and prefer a more classic fit we advise you to size up. If you are used to European Slim Fit or prefer a more fitted look or on the cusp of a size and prefer a more fitted fit look we advise you to size down.

Our golf shirts are generally slightly more generous on sizing compared with our golf sweaters, midlayers and outerwear.

WILL MY GOLF CLOTHING SHRINK?

All of our products are made from fabrics which are pre-shrunk before they are measured, cut and put together by our craftsmen and women. This means that if you follow the care instructions on our products carefully you should not see any shrinkage in any of our products.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GOLF CLOTHING

Glenmuir's beautiful, high quality golf sweaters will wear very well, but they do need to be cared for. Take a look at our complete guide to storing, caring and washing your Glenmuir knitwear.

Lambswool

Lambswool is taken from the first shearing of the animal after its first coat has come in. The texture is fine and soft and naturally breathable.

  • Always follow the care instructions on the garment carefully
  • Machine wash at 30 degrees centigrade on a wool wash cycle
  • Colour detergents are not suitable
  • Always use a non-biological, non-enzyme detergent that does not contain bleaching agents and is preferably Woolmark approved
  • Dry the garment flat away from direct heat or sunlight and reshape whilst damp
  • Iron the garment on a cool setting or use a hand steamer to press and steam out wrinkles
  • Lambswool is a natural fibre and pilling may occur. It is not a fault or indication of inferior quality but simply a natural characteristic of the yarn. Gently remove the pills by using a garment comb, brush or sweater stone
  • Store your lambswool folded in a garment storage bag to protect from moths and beetles
  • Never put lambswool on the carpet as it could pick up carpet bugs and beetles which will cause holes
  • To prevent moths in your home, we suggest placing cedar blocks which have a natural deterrent beside your sweaters. Moth boxes can also be placed in your wardrobe which have a chemical in them which attracts moths to stick to the cardboard
  • If you're unfortunate enough to discover evidence of moth activity, place your garments into the freezer for 48 hours. This will eradicate any eggs and prevent further damage

Merino Wool

Merino wool is the finest grade of wool from the merino sheep. It is renowned for being soft and extremely comfortable against the skin. The beauty of Merino wool is that it can be worn almost all year round. In warmer weather it creates a cooling effect and in the colder months it retains heat, creating a layer of warmth and insulation, acting as the perfect layering piece.

Merino also has natural antibacterial properties and can prevent odours so less washing is required than cotton and synthetics.

  • Always follow the care instructions on the garment carefully
  • Machine wash at 30 degrees centigrade on a wool wash cycle
  • Colour detergents are not suitable

Cashmere

Luxurious and super soft, cashmere is obtained from the Cashmere goat. Only the soft ultra-fine undercoat is used in the production of cashmere. Its downy undercoat provides the softest fibres and is most sought after for its quality. Limited in supply, only a relatively small amount can be harvested each year which is why it is considered a premium, luxury yarn.

Cashmere is highly desirable because of its versatility - it's soft and lightweight while still remaining durable and makes a great insulator.

  • Always follow the care instructions on the garment carefully
  • Wash your cashmere knitwear by hand or on a gentle hand wash cycle at 30 degrees centigrade
  • Colour detergents are not suitable
  • Always use a non-biological, non-enzyme detergent that does not contain bleaching agents and is preferably Woolmark approved
  • Dry the garment flat away from direct heat or sunlight and reshape whilst damp

Cotton

Cotton is a natural fibre grown on a plant relating to the hibiscus. It is soft and versatile and suited to wearing in spring/summer weather due to its cooler, breathable properties.

  • Always follow the care instructions on the garment carefully
  • Machine wash at 30 degrees centigrade on a cotton programme
  • Always use a non-biological, non-enzyme detergent that does not contain bleaching agents
  • Dry the garment flat away from direct heat or sunlight and reshape whilst damp
  • Iron the garment on a cool setting or use a hand steamer to press and steam out wrinkles
