From blockbuster film stars to boyband heartthrobs, we take a look at the celebrities who are some of golf’s biggest devotees.

Gareth Bale
Nicknamed “the golfer” by his former Real Madrid team-mates, the recently returned Tottenham Hotspur and Wales international is famously crazy about his golf.

He even has a custom-built golf course in his back garden to practise his shots. The seven-time trophy winner plays off a handicap of five, so you won’t find him languishing in the long stuff.

Celine Dion
Perhaps more surprisingly, this Grammy award-winning singer has a burning passion for golf, playing off a handicap of 17. Known for having a taste for the finer things in life, she once built a golf course in her Florida home.

In the 1990s, Celine and her late husband didn’t think twice when they bought Le Mirage Golf Club in her native Canada, and she remains a partner to this day.

Niall Horan
Former One Direction member, this Irish singer and songwriter has lowered his handicap from 14 to nine, thanks to his dedication to the fairway. And when friend Rory Mcllory, currently 6th in the PGA Tour World Ranking, asked him to caddie for him at the Par 3 Masters in 2015, he jumped at the chance.

So addicted to the game, Niall has spent plenty of time on golf’s Major tours and has even started his own company called Modest Golf, helping the latest golfing talent break into the game.

Samuel L. Jackson
When he’s not filming blockbuster movies, you can usually find this legendary producer and award-winning actor on the green with golf pros in celebrity tournaments and charity outings.

Last known to play off a handicap of six, rumour has it he has a clause written into his film contracts that allows him time off to play.

Vernon Kay
Last seen finishing third on I’m A Celebrity 2020, this TV presenter and golf fanatic has hosted the European Tour GolfSixes event, where teams of two from 16 nations compete around a six-hole circuit.

Playing off a handicap of 12, you’re sure to find him at various celebrity charity golf days.

Anton du Beke
When he’s not foxtrotting across the Strictly Come Dancing floor on Saturday nights, this ballroom dancing legend can be found at the tee.

A passionate golf lover who used to enjoy playing with the late great Sir Bruce Forsyth, Anton has a handicap of five and once impressed ex-pro Nick Dougherty with his driving skills in the Sky Sports’ Shot Centre.
