FAQs

Can I watch the Masters for free?

You can no longer watch the Masters for free in the UK. As of 2019, BBC stopped showing live coverage of the tournament. BBC had provided live coverage of not just the Augusta National, but all major golfing tournaments since 1955.

Since the Masters 2020, BBC has only been permitted to show the highlights, meaning there is currently no way for terrestrial TV users to tune into the masters for free in the UK.

To watch the Masters and any other PGA Tour event live, UK viewers will have to invest in Sky Sports or live stream the event on Virgin's TV Anywhere app or on Now.

Where is the Masters held?

The Masters is held at Augusta National Golf Club, where it has been held every year since 1934. No other major golf tournament is held in the same location each year. It is the first major golf tournament of the year and is one of the four major championships. Winners of the Masters gets to keep the legendary green jacket for the year.

During the Masters, the grounds welcome 12,000 spectators per day. However, tickets are much sought-after and getting into the tournament is extremely difficult.

Some golf fans opt to volunteer at the tournament to increase their chances of watching the game up-close. Augusta requires around 700 volunteers per year. If you don't fancy struggling to get a ticket for the event or submitting an application to volunteer, your best option is to live stream the Masters from home!

Are all golf major championships shown on Sky?

Since taking over live golf responsibilities from the BBC, all major championships and PGA tour competitions are given TV coverage on Sky Sports. This includes the Masters, the Open, the US Open, and the PGA championships.

You can also find the major women's golf championships on Sky Sports, including the DP World Tour, PGA Tour, Ladies European Tour, and the LPGA Tour.
